Renaissance + Silhouette

This one came about after I wrote my art history midterm. I decided to put my art history flashcards to good use. My idea for it kept changing as I made mistakes, but with the mistakes, it evolved into this. It is made from acrylic, printed pictures, and spraypaint.

Splitting the Atom

This is a mixed media piece, with magazines, acrylic, and spraypaint. The inspiration came from the new Massive Attack cd Heligoland.

Handss

This was an assignment in my drawing class... Just some contour hands, that are mine

Unfinished

This was an old project, with random texture and stuff, but i didn't like it. So i painted it white, and then started painting this dude. Not sure what I'm going to put on the other side yet...

tape

This one is made from painting on tape. Man done in india ink and paint. Sealed in gel medium :)

It is in all of us

This one is made of tin foil, spray paint, newspaper and sharpie. It says "it is in all of us to defy expectations, to go into the world and to be brave, and to want, to need, to hunger for adventures, to embrace change and chance and risk, so that we may breathe, and know what it is to be free"
*sorry, I'm still pretty new to this.. I got the quote from this wonderful artist on Etsy, Maechevrette.

Mabel

This one i did in pencil. It is of my great grandma, Mabel. I wanted to draw someone i knew instead of photographs.. hopefully more like this to come

For Meghan

My brother's gf liked my Eiffel Tower so much, she wanted me to paint her one. All she told me was she wanted it in brown and the tower to be white. So my brother and I went shopping and picked up the canvas and the paints, I also got the gold, because women love gold. I finished it and surprised her with it when she came here last, and now its hanging up in their home in Calgary :) I am really pleased with the way this painting turned out

Final Piece of Grade 11

M.I.A. & chalk pastels!! Two of my favorite things

Newspaper Assignment

I used newspaper for a background on this piece. I then painted the three colors for the background and then did the dark green design. After that I cut out a picture of Janelle Monae (who is a sweet singer by the way, I love her song Sincerely, Jane) and gave her a serpent body and some wings, i sewed some string, glued some colored sand, pieces of mirror and colored dots. I love the picture of Janelle, it's such a funny pose :D

SCYAP Project

This was my piece I had made for our SCYAP show. Acrylic paint, pencil crayon, and marker was used. It was kind of a collection of different things and ideas.

Harmony

I got inspirations from a lot of different people and things for this one. I used tape, acrylic paint, and India ink and the center means Harmony :)

Texture Assignment #2

I used acrylic paint and other tools to create texture on this piece. The text at the top was from the book "Hawksley Burns for Isadora" and the words in the center mean "Without Form and Void."

Texture Assignment #1

For this, I used a sponge for the background and clouds, and acrylic paint for the birds. I got the idea for the big pigeon from Sarah.

Remembrance Day

This is my Remembrance Day picture. I used chalk pastels for this. This was my first time using chalk pastels, and I like the way it turned out, and I hope to use chalk pastels again.
